Milli loves visiting her great-grandma Ninny at her new home where other grandies live. They are knitting together a coat for Milli’s little dog Poochie. But lately, she isn’t well. She often forgets things and stares at the walls. Milli learned from his dad that Ninny is living with dementia so her memory is getting weaker day by day. Milli’s heart was broken into a thousand pieces when she saw her great-grandma couldn’t remember Milli’s herself. But one day, while Milli is knitting, she has a pleasant surprise when Ninny notices she drops a stitch! Dropping a Stitch is a delicate story for children trying to understand their relationship with a grandparent living with Dementia. Children may learn what Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease are and what they can do if a loved one is living with dementia.

About the Illustrator: Marika Monesi

Marika is an Italian artist born in 1992. She has always had a strong passion for drawing and photography and this led her to choose graphics and photography in high school. In addition to her main job, she works as a cosplay photographer.

She opened her own shop of stationery products decorated with her drawings, then she decided to take her first steps in children’s publishing, to make one of her dreams come true. Now, as a good collector of picture books, she dreams of adding hers to the library too
